Parking for Abbey Lodge meetings

Abbey Lodge meets in the building marked pale blue, near the letter C, in the arial view of Abingdon, below. There are two large car parks near by, shown in red and green, plus one smaller one, also red. Green marks a large multi-storey, paying, car park. The larger red area is a supermarket car park which is probably free, you will find out at the barriers as you enter. It's only about 40p anyway. If the barrier is down when you leave at night you just exit the car park at the north end, and certainly without paying in that case. The smaller red area is the council offices car park which is paying until after 6pm, then it's free. This is probably the most convenient one to use. Routes from the car parks to Abbey Hall are shown in thinner lines.

Points A and B on the map below indicate where you approach if you are coming into Abingdon from the A34, Point A if you are travelling south from the Oxford area; Point B if you are travelling north from the M4 for example. Point C shows where you enter if you come in from the Reading area or possibly if you cut across country from the M40.

From Point C. You will realise you've reached the one-way system when you have to turn left, but be very careful, there is a route cutting across you at that point which makes it quite hazardous. Follow the one-way system, keeping right. There's a pedestrian crossing, then a set of traffic lights where you must go right. Read further directions below.

From Point B. Keep going straight ahead towards the town centre. You should recognise that you've reached the one-way system when you have to turn left at a set of traffic lights.

On the one-way system follow the road round as it curves right, and go straight on through a set of traffic lights, then you might note the multi-storey car park exit on the right as you go past. You can continue as the road goes round to the right if you are heading for that car park, or if not, move across to the left hand lane. When the road splits, take the left fork but keep to the right now. You immediately reach a set of traffic lights. Turn right and you will arrive at the supermarket as below.

From Point A. As you come in to the centre of Abingdon, there is a big church on your left, then a mini-roundabout. Then there is a petrol station on the right and a set of traffic lights. You should see a sign for the supermarket here, and this is where you turn left.

At the supermarket you can either turn into their car park, or go ahead a little and turn right into the council car park.
